Our History

Dora Kaplan, grandmother to present owner Ted Kaplan, started dealing in produce in Iowa peddling potatoes and onions with a horse and wagon. In 1908, she moved to Los Angeles and opened up her own wholesale distribution business representing many Iowa potato and onion growers. Through World War II, together with her son Milton, Dora maintained and grew the flourishing business that exists today. Dora’s son, Milton Kaplan now 82, still works at Professional Produce with his son and owner Ted Kaplan.
